Penryn Arts Festival 2013

Penryn Arts Festival began in 2013 and I produced & worked on several events. Wild Oak Theatre present The King of Prussia This emerging local theatre company presents Nick Darke's major play. Based on the lives of the 'free trading' Carter family who lived in West Cornwall at the end of the 18th century. Wild Oak are a company committed to showcasing the best of Cornwall's young, talented theatre makers. Lunch Beat - Lunch time disco If It's Your First Time at Lunch Beat, You Have To Dance Lunch Beat is a different way to spend your lunch break during the week. It is an hour of music and visuals for you to run wild. It is a party in daylight.Lunch Beat is a venture started in Stockholm in 2010 and has so far contaminated lunch breaks all over the world, and now is here for you with Penryn Arts Festival. Let the Tide in, Orquestina de Pigmeos present a six-hour site-specific performance, a gathering in which we´ll celebrate and feast upon the life and landscape of Penryn's harbour as it is transformed while the waters rise. HOI Residency at Greenhall, Cambridge

The House of In-Correction (HoI), began in Cambridge in the summer of 2011 in response to our residency at Green Hall (via NoDS residency!). The House was provoked by research into The Vagrancy Act of 1822 in the UK but our research and inspiration has now extended beyond this. How do laws like the Vagrancy Act shape the time we spend in social spaces, and how we find one another and form radical friendships? Alex Felicitas & I undertook a residency at Greenhall and from this we began making new work and plotting our own residency space in Canada. The Storyteller Scratch

In September 2013 at the Performance centre, in Penryn, Cornwall I put on a scratch night for dance & theatre practitioners to come and experiment in front of a supportive audience. I did a scratch as a collaborative duo (Hope & Anchor) with Joanna Hope Bricher. We made a short piece using an OHP and manipulated objects to create live animation and layered this with layers of spoken poetry. It was a really successful beginning towards working towards our new show which will be based in a home built shadow theatre using a poetic narrative.

Stealing the Night Performance

Secret performance for two audience members. Audience are sent a text message - 'meet me on the quay at 5pm today, tell no-one and dress up warm'. A car arrives on the quay and Terry gets out the car. He gives the audience blindfolds and a small paper package. Everyone gets in the car. They blindfold themselves and open the package, they can feel that it is a small piece of carved wood, that fits well into the palm of their hand. It is carved the represent the coastline and the estuaries where we live. The car drives off, and a recording plays out over the stereo, It is the sound of fire, of a door clanking shut and rain falling on a tin roof. Then the story begins and a poetic narrative plays with the sound of fire and stormy weather. The car drives for ten minutes and then stops. The two audience and two performers get out of the car, they have arrived at Maenporth beach, there is a blanket with a hurricane lantern waiting for them. There is a fire on the beach and in the distance a lighthouse blinks. The car headlights are left on...
